Water Meter Exchange

Rochelle, IL - As our water meters age over time they must be replaced every ten to twelve years.  Rochelle Municipal Utilities is taking proactive measures to maintain and improve our utility infrastructure, and the meters are now being replaced with more reliable meters.  If your water meter needs to be replaced, you will receive a written notice from RMU to schedule an appointment.  The homeowner must be present to allow Operators access to exchange your water meter.  An added benefit of the new meters is improved reading efficiency.

RMU endorses water conservation and we offer thise useful tips.

  • Turn faucet off when brushing teeth or shaving
  • Run your clothes and dishwasher only when they are full
  • Shorten your shower by two or three minutes
  • Check for leaks in toilets, water faucets and water heaters
