Shop local to save on your RMU bill! The City of Rochelle and Rochelle Municipal utilities are kicking off a new program to encourage support of local businesses impacted by COVID-19. By spending $300 at designated local businesses within RMU’s service territory, which includes Creston and Hillcrest, and submitting those receipts, RMU Customers will receive a $60 credit on their RMU electric bill. The program runs through December 31, 2020.
“This project is just one of the many ways our locally-owned utility is able to give back,” said Mayor John Bearrows. “Our team is working creatively to support the local business community through the pandemic.”
Local businesses included in the promotion include the retailers, restaurants, hair salons and small businesses that were deemed non-essential during the Governor’s spring executive order. A complete list is available on www.cityofrochelle.net and www.rmu.net.
“If we have just ten people participate in this program, we’ve invested $3,000 into our local business community,” said City Manager Jeff Fiegenschuh. “Imagine what we can do if fifty or more people commit to shopping local!”
To submit your receipts, visit either the City of Rochelle or Rochelle Municipal Utilities website. There, you will find both an online form or a printable form.
