Don't Flush Trouble

Rochelle, IL - When it comes to disposal......drains, toilets and trash cans are not all the same.  Disposing of trash items down drains and toilets can lead to sewer overflows and back-ups that can cause harm to human health.  Just because the package says "flushable" doesn't mean it's true.  These products are clogging our sewer lines and damaging pumps and other equipment.

Rochelle Municipal Utilities is taking proactive measures to maintain and improve our utility infrastructure.  Our sewer system is designed to dispose of very specific items.  Using your toilet for disposal of many modern products will often result in blockages.  The drains in your home that connect to the sewer main are only big enough to carry water, toilet paper and human waste - often no wider than 4 inches.

Avoid drain pain, don't flush these items...........

  • Disposable diapers, nursing pads and baby wipes
  • Facial tissues and Kleenex
  • Paper towels and napkins
  • Dental floss, hair or condoms
  • Sanitary pads and tampons
  • Grease, fats and oils

We appreciate your cooperation.  We at RMU strive to provide quality customer service in all areas of our operation.  If you have questions or concerns, please call the RMU Customer Service office at 815-562-4155.

Remember, if it isn't from your body or toilet paper, put it in the trash!
