Rochelle Municipal Utilities is pleased to announce a power cost adjustment decrease being passed along to our customers.
All utility bills include a line item for Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) which is a charge that fluctuates as the market price for electricity fluctuates. The City of Rochelle & Rochelle Municipal Utilities staff has renegotiated our power purchase cost to see the savings. In mid 2017 the Power Cost Adjustment was $.02/kilowatt hour and today, that rate is just $.003/kilowatt hour.
Residential customers who use an average of 700kwh/month have seen their PCA decrease from $7.09/month in 2017 to just $2.32/month in 2018 – a savings of nearly $5 per month.
Our commercial and small business customers averaging approximately 4,800kwh/month will see their monthly PCA cost decrease from $48.62/month to $15.94/month – a savings of over $32 every month.
Finally, our large industrial customers will see a significant savings of thousands of dollars each month. Large industrial customers use an average of 3.4million kilowatt hours each month. In 2018, their PCA has decreased from $34,442/month to $11,288/month.
“RMU is working hard to provide low rates to our residential and business customers and we are proud that our efforts have resulted in a cost savings for everyone,” said City Manager Jeff Fiegenschuh.
In addition to the PCA decrease, RMU offers savings in the form of the Summer Saver Program and incentive programs for residents and businesses.
