Start Service

To apply for new residential service, click the link below.

 The following documents are required for new service:

  • Driver's License or Alternate Government Issued Picture Identification
  • Second Form of Identification (i.e. credit card)
  • Copy of Rental Agreement or Proof of Ownership
  • Activation Fee (if applicable – see below)*

The application for service must be received by RMU at least one working day before the date service is to begin. Applications received after 4:00 pm will be considered as received on the next working day.

Residential Application for Utility Service

To apply for new commercial service, please submit the following documents to RMU

  • Completed Commercial/Industrial Application
  • Driver's License or Alternate Government Issued Picture Identification
  • Copy of Rental Agreement or Proof of Ownership

The application for service must be received by RMU at least one working day before the date service is to begin. Applications received after 4:00 pm will be considered as received on the next working day.

Residential

Electrical service may be stopped by calling RMU at 815-562-4155 or by completing the Stop Service Form and submitting to RMU. The request to stop service must be received by RMU at least one working day before the date service is to be terminated. Stop service requests received after 4:00 pm will be considered as received on the next working day. If meters are inside the home, RMU will call to schedule a time to read the meters before service ends. Any communications equipment must be returned within 48 hours of the requested stop date or the customer will be billed.

Commercial

Activation Fee - Residential

In lieu of a security deposit, RMU charges a non-refundable activation fee of $60 to new customers (commercial & residential) who have not had service with us in the past 12 months.
