The Rochelle Water Reclamation Division treats an average of 2.2 million gallons of wastewater per day and process approximately 1.6 tons of sludge. RMU's collection system consists of approximately 110 miles of main that carry the wastewater to the treatment plant. Upon treatment to stringent IEPA standards, the water is then discharged to the Kyte River. Samples of the water sent to the creek are tested daily to ensure that it meets the requirement of the EPA. The plant has sufficient capacity to meet the needs of a growing community.
